How to Study the Bible for All We Are Worth
Spectrum Church Fall Study, Wednesdays, 7:00 -8:30 p.m.
September 6-November 29 at the Ministry Center
In 2014, Zondervan published the fourth edition of a classic book called, “How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth,” by Gordon Fee and Douglas Stuart (originally published in 2002). It is a practical guide that includes information on how to choose a Bible translation and understand the various literary genres contained within the 66 books. It helps simplify the reading of scripture for those intimidated by its length, breadth, and perceived complexity. The book is still highly beneficial reading for those of us who need to demystify the notion that the Bible is only accessible to “trained” scholars.
This Fall, Spectrum will offer “How to Study the Bible for All We Are Worth.” The study will focus on three common methods used to approach the scripture for personal insight and growth: 1) Discovery Bible Study, 2) Inductive Bible Study, and 3) Lectio Divina. While our facilitators will address some of the similar Bible questions that Fee and Douglas address, the aim will be to help participants better access the message and merit of scripture for personal transformation.
Facilitators: Maria Spence, Merlin Eelkema, and Scott Bullock
