Operation Christmas Child Drop-Off Center
We are excited to announce that Spectrum Church Irvine will again this year (2024) be supporting Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child (OCC) as a DROP-OFF CENTER for people and organizations who pack the boxes and need a place to drop them for processing.
The DROP-OFF CENTER is a great way for Spectrum, and YOU, to serve our local community, right in our Ministry Center. We need volunteers who can help with:
Greeting and praying with people when they drop off their shoeboxes
Counting and packing the boxes into specially designed cartons
Delivering the cartons to the Central Drop Off Center in Laguna Woods each day
Spectrum Church will be open as a Drop-Off Center for 8 days as follows:
Monday-Friday, November 18-22, from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 23, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Sunday, November 24, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Monday, November 25, from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.
In addition to serving as the drop-off center, we will continue our annual shoebox drive. Shoeboxes may be picked up after worship starting in October. You then fill the boxes with small, age-appropriate gifts, and return them to the Ministry Center no later than Sunday, November 17.
Operation Christmas Child, sponsored by international relief organization Samaritan’s Purse, seeks to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way through each shoebox gift. Shoeboxes are filled by individuals, families, and businesses with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies and are shipped to children affected by war, poverty, natural disasters, famine, and disease.
Please join what God is doing in the world by volunteering to help with drop offs, or packing up a shoebox – or multiple shoeboxes. Consider taking an extra shoebox and think about at least one other person you can invite to participate.
